Black Sheep
Get ready to groove as Dres, the iconic frontman of the legendary hip-hop duo Black Sheep, brings his signature flow to our Health, Hope & Hip-Hop Block Party! Born Andres “Dres” Vargas-Titus, he rose to fame in the early ’90s as half of Black Sheep, known for their classic debut A Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing (released October 22, 1991). The album spawned hits like “Flavor of the Month” and the enduring anthem “The Choice Is Yours (Revisited)“, which still resonates on dance floors today.
Hailing from Queens, NY, Dres was a proud member of the Native Tongues collective, alongside heavyweights like A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, and the Jungle Brothers. His smooth yet razor-sharp lyricism and unmatched stage energy helped define an era—and now, he’s bringing that same spirit to your block for a performance that promises nostalgia, empowerment, and pure hip-hop soul.
Whether you’re a longtime fan or discovering him for the first time, Dres’s appearance is more than music—it’s a cultural moment. Let’s keep the pulse of health, hope, and hip-hop alive.

Project X: Armed and Dangerous
Get ready to take it back to 1990 when the underground hip-hop collective behind Project X (Armed & Dangerous) took the scene by storm. This rare gem, originally dropped on vinyl in the U.S., featured a roster of diverse artists and became a cult favorite in hip-hop circles.
At the block party, the reunion panel brings together all the album’s collaborators for a one-of-a-kind moment. Expect heartfelt reflections on what the project meant to them, side-splitting throwback stories from the studio and touring days, and candid discussion on how the album shaped their artistic paths. Whether they reminisce about crowded sessions, unexpected beats, or lyrical inspiration, it’ll be pure nostalgia.
And hold up—there’s talk of a surprise performance of a Project X classic. Picture the crowd erupting as that familiar beat hits again, voices joining in on that raw, energetic chorus that defined a moment in hip-hop history.
Whether you’re a longtime fan or discovering vintage hip-hop magic for the first time, this panel is set to deliver authenticity, laughs, and maybe even chills—live and unfiltered.

The KidZone Tent 🎉
We designed the KidZone Tent with one goal in mind: creating a safe, fun, and engaging space just for the kids. Inside the tent, children will be together in one place where parents can feel confident they’re supervised and enjoying themselves.
On the KidZone Main Stage, kids will experience a mix of exciting activities—from story time and reading sessions, to learning about health in creative, interactive ways, to discovering the culture of hip-hop through music and movement. Add in arts & crafts, games, and other hands-on fun, and the KidZone becomes the perfect spot for our young guests to learn, laugh, and celebrate the spirit of the Block Party.
